Cooper City Alert! Automatic Rate Increases

[Just sent to us from one of our sources.ED.]

Detail reading of the rate sheets reveals the following statement:

(d) Effective with bills on or after October 1, 2010 and each year thereafter, the City will institute annually an automatic increase to the monthly water service availability and consumption charges established in this schedule, to be applied to such rates which are in effect immediately prior to the effective date of each annual increase. The annual index adjustment shall be automatically increased by an amount equal to the U.S. Department of Labor Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers - CPI(U); U.S. City Average.

This means that your water charge can increase yearly anywhere from 0% to 5%-6% without a vote by your City Commission.

The residents of Cooper City need to take a really strong look at this gambit. Over the next 18 months a 25%+ increase and over the next ten years it amounts to 70%. All of this without any further citizen or commission vote and therefore no accountability? Not my kind of government.

Agreed. And, I'll bet you a million dollars that if Sims questions this, he will be labeled a 'troublemaker' again by our illustrious leader...

Comm. Sims already questioned it, explained why he vote no and was already labeled a troublemaker and other things by Debby and her cronies. We need more people like Comm. Sims questioning everything they do and holding them accountable, not lackey's who want to go along to get along.
